Purley Oaks Station Cafe is a straightforward, no-fuss spot that fits seamlessly into the pulse of South Croydon’s day-to-day rhythm. Located just outside Purley Oaks station, it naturally draws a mix of commuters, local workers, and residents looking for a reliable place to grab breakfast or a casual lunch. The cafe’s vibe is warm and approachable — nothing pretentious, just a friendly neighborhood stop where the staff know many of their regulars by name.

The cafe’s menu is broad but grounded in classic British and Mediterranean-style breakfasts alongside solid lunch options. Expect well-executed crowd-pleasers like Eggs Benedict, the Mediterranean Breakfast, and an English Breakfast that regularly receives compliments for generous portions. Those seeking vegetarian choices will find thoughtful options, including a vegetarian breakfast made to order with care not to cross-contaminate with meat — a detail that speaks to how the kitchen accommodates dietary preferences without fuss.

The coffee here tends to be a highlight for visitors. Patrons often grab a cappuccino or a strong brew to go with their meal, and given the setting right by the station, it’s a natural pit stop for anyone starting their day or taking a break from commuting. The atmosphere leans casual and comfortable, with staff who genuinely engage with customers, making it a place where you’re as likely to chat about the morning headlines as you are simply to enjoy a moment’s pause.

Lunch sees locals popping in for heartier fare like chicken curry, chilli con carne, or the daily specials — mains that come with sides like chips or salad, fitting well with those needing a filling meal during a workday. The variety also includes sandwiches and wraps for a quicker bite. Portions tend to be generous, and prices remain reasonable, reflecting the cafe’s role as a local staple rather than a destination dining spot.

Overall, Purley Oaks Station Cafe suits anyone looking for a solid, welcoming place to eat near the station, especially mornings and lunchtime on weekdays. Whether you need a quick caffeine fix, a sit-down breakfast with all the trimmings, or a dependable lunch, it covers those bases well within a friendly neighborhood framework.

First time here and best breakfast I've had in many years. Breakfast is much like the beautiful woman in the pic. Appreciate her and savour every moment. The beautiful lady had bread with avocado and poached egg with a side of bacon which she said was fabulous and I had the mega breakfast. I was really impressed, the black pudding was excellent, sausage delicious, the mushrooms were next level brilliant which is so nice because many places let themselves down with bad quality or badly cooked mushrooms, well not here, they were delicious. The grilled tomato was delish. Bacon was thick and unctious, very delicious Bacon, and there were beans, chips and eggs. Plenty of extras are available including bubble and squeak. The toast served with my breakfast was brilliant, thick and perfectly toasted with lashings of butter, sooo good. And theres variants of breakfast like a superb looking Mediterranean breakfast and plenty of others. My missus was happy to have peppermint tea as an option and my tea was lovely too. Highly recommend eating here. The service was superb, even when every table was full the staff service was still brilliant. Lovely people

I went to this cafe yesterday morning. I really appreciated the warm and friendly welcome, as well as their willingness to fulfill my needs. I wanted a vegetarian breakfast that wasn’t cooked in the same oil as meat products. The chef was kind enough to whip up a special breakfast for me to accommodate my needs. It looks lovely and tasted even better. I thoroughly recommend them, and thank them for their courtesy.

Have been coming to this cafe since they opened. Staff are extremely friendly and always happy to help with requests. We are always well catered for and have always arrived to a warm welcome. Portion sizes are large, prices are very reasonable and the coffee is fantastic. If you are looking for a local cafe, this is the place. I strongly recommend.

My husband and I had breakfast there this morning and to read other reviews describing it as a hidden gem couldn't be more accurate! The staff are lovely, so friendly and the food was really impressive. I had the Mediterranean breakfast (with added hash browns) and everything was so fresh and clearly lovingly made. Would absolutely go again, what a great little spot.

Excited that there's finally a cafe in Purley Oaks, and fortunately it turns out to be way better than hoped for. Not your typical greasy spoon, this is clean and bright and the food is fresh and delicious. Hope they do well, so come along and support a great little local business.

We love this cafe. We love the food and became regulars very quickly. Whilst the food is really good (good portions, well presented and good prices), the reason we enjoy going back is bexause of the friendly service we get from the team. Always greets us when we arrive and they like to remember peoples favourites and find out how we are. A favourite place to go for a Saturday morning breakfast - our favourites are either the big breakfast, avocado eggs and bacon or the pancakes. Cok guzel! Teşekkür!
